MEET

KAJAL

Director, Creative Director,

Writer, Photographer.

Director, Creative Director, Writer, Photographer.

I came out of the womb knowing I wanted

to be a Director. Though it sounds like a joke, it’s

the biggest and most honest truth about myself.

My dada (grandfather) wanted to be a Director

but because he had to give up his dreams to

immigrate to America, he wasn’t able to make

that happen for himself.

Instead, I became the culmination of

everything he knew.

Because we couldn’t afford film school, my

entry into commercials and music videos

became my classrooms. I’m averse to anything

void of color so my work is often bold, vivid, and

FULL. An emotional giant telling stories from

her 5'2 two view. Somehow, this child of

immigrants from Brooklyn, NY ended up being

taken seriously in the industry and even ended

up in Vogue India (cue the first time my mom

told me she was proud of me). Before my

Dada passed, he told me, “I can’t wait for the

day it says Director Kajal Patel in theaters”.

So if I’m being honest, I’m only just getting

started. Take a chance on the kid, won’t you?
